Admission to the BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE), Bangalore—the first private engineering college in India—is highly sought after and conducted through three main pathways. Unlike its sister institution BMSIT, BMSCE is located in Basavanagudi and typically has higher entry cutoffs and fees.
KCET (45% of seats): Reserved for Karnataka domicile students. Admission is based on the rank secured in the Karnataka Common Entrance Test.
COMEDK (30% of seats): Open to students from all over India. Admission is based on the COMEDK UGET rank.
Management Quota (25% of seats): Direct admission based on academic merit (10+2 marks) and an institutional interview.
Academic: Minimum 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC Karnataka candidates) in Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or Computer Science.
Entrance Exam: Candidates must appear for either KCET, COMEDK, or JEE Main. Even for Management Quota, a valid entrance exam rank/scorecard is mandatory.
Management Quota Specific: Most competitive branches (like CSE) require a minimum of 60% in PCM for direct admission consideration.
